Unfortunate event
Well..
..
I was out shooting around the neighbourhood today with the Casio. The sun often ended up in the frame, and one of the times was when I had the macro loupe on. Very stupid mistake. I saw small wisps of smoke rising out of the lens assembly and I quickly shut off the camera and removed the loupe. I tried turning it on and taking a picture of something back home. The results were not pretty. The photos were washed out and there were horizontal lines every other pixel row. After a long, closer examination with that god forsaken loupe and a flashlight. I believe I have found out the problem. It was beyond ruin.
- the sensor must have been fried a bit, therefore we have the horizontal black lines
- I am to believe the shutter mechanism is built into the lens (as it is not interchangable), and I notice that shutter does not cut off during the exposure (the shutter is permanently jammed open, therefore everything is washed out)
- the aperture rings (they don't seem like blades) is just destroyed, it's melted and deformed and can no longer be widened or closed.
- there's a gold coloured object seemingly in the middle of the aperture. At first I thought that was the shutter but I was horrified when I discovered it was a melted lens element
I still have two film cameras and my phone camera, so I will try to continue making PADKBFDs, as I have made a committment.
